Easy and Fun! This cute blanket is a light weight blanket because of my choice of yarn which is the sensations cuddle yarn. The Granny Stitch afghan allows for any sized blanket you would like.  It would make an adorable Childs blanket.

 

Materials: Sensations Cuddle yarn – Turquoise, Lt Green, and Lilac, Size G hook, and darning needle

 

SL = Slip Stitch

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

TR = Treble Crochet

SK = Skip

ST(s) = Stitch (es)

 

Spring Granny Square

Base: CH 5, SL to first CH made, CH 5 turn.

Rnd 1 (Lilac): In CH 4 sp [*(3 DC, CH 3) rep from * 2 times, 2 DC, SL to 3rd CH sp from base of ring, Tie off.

Rnd 2 (Lt Green): Attach yarn to Right Corner sp, CH 5, SK 3 DC, * In CH 3 sp (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC), CH 1, SK 3 DC, Rep from * 3 times, Last Rep end with 2 DC instead of 3 DC, SL to 3rd CH made, tie off.

Rnd 3 (Turquoise): Attach yarn to right corner sp, Ch 5, *Sk 3 DC, 3 DC in CH 1 sp, CH 1, SK 3 DC, In  CH 3 sp ( 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC), CH 1, Rep from * 3 times, Last Rep end with 2 DC instead of 3 DC, SL to 3rd CH made, Tie off.

Rnd 4 (Lt. Green): Attach yarn to right corner sp, Ch 5, *SK 3 DC, (3 DC in CH 1 sp, CH 1, SK 3 DC) 2 times, In CH 3 sp (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC), CH 1, Rep from * 3 times, Last Rep end with 2 DC instead of 3 DC, SL to 3rd CH made, Tie off.

Rnd 5(Turquoise): Attach yarn to right corner sp, Ch 5, *SK 3 DC, (3 DC in CH 1 sp, CH 1, SK 3 DC) 3 times, In CH 3 sp (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC), CH 1, Rep from * 3 times, Last Rep end with 2 DC instead of 3 DC, SL to 3rd CH made, CH 3, turn. DO not tie off.

Rnd 6 (turquoise): DC around perimeter of motif, 5 DC in CH3 corner sp, SL to 1st DC made, Tie off hide string.

The Number of Spring Granny Squares needed depends on how big you want your blanket.

After all the Squares are made, connect squares in chosen fashion. I whip stitched my pieces together.

 

Edging

Rnd 1 (turquoise): SC around perimeter of blanket, 3 SC in the corners, SL to 1st SC made, CH 1, turn.

Rnd 2: * 1 SC, Sk 2 sps, 5 DC in next sp, Sk 2 sps, rep from * around blanket, SL to 1st SC made, Tie off.

 

Flower appliqué:

Base: CH 12, SL to 1st CH made, CH 1 turn.

Rnd 1: In CH 12 Ring sp (SC, HDC, 2 DC, 2 TR, 2 DC, HDC, SC) 4 times, Tie off, leave long tail

 

Sewing on Flower appliqués

Take the long tail of each flower appliqué and connect a darning needle to the end. Place Appliqués on every other cross section in each row, on the next Row offset the appliqués from the row before, and sew perimeter of flower to connect.
