Happy Easter! This basket makes for a great candy dish. This Crochet basket is lined with plastic canvas. This is a very easy and simple project. Make One! Make Two! Give one away and Keep one too!
Materials: Sensations Cuddle Yarn: Lt Green, Pink, and Lilac. Size F hook, Darning needle, and a sheet of plastic canvas.
CH = Chain
SL = Slip Stitch
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
TR = Treble Crochet
First things First! Take that sheet of plastic canvas and build a basket.
Bottom of basket = Cut out One 3 ¾” X 3 ¾” Square
Basket Sides = Cut out Four 3 ¾” X 2” Rectangles
Handle = Cut out One 2” X 8 “Rectangle
Take darning needle and Green Yarn and sew the Sides together. Then Sew sides to bottom. Then sew the handle in middle of two sides that are opposite of each other.
Now that that is done Lets begin with the Crochet part.
Bottom: Lt Green
Base: Ch 17
Row 1-18: 16 SC, Ch 1 turn.
Starting the basket’s sides.
Working in rounds
Rnd 19: SC around entire motif. Don’t forget to 3SC in corner sps, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1 turn.
Rnd 20-22: SC around Motif. This time do not 3 SC in the corners, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1, turn.
Change Color to Lilac
Rnd 23-27: SC around Motif. This time do not 3 SC in the corners, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1, turn.
Change Color to Lt Green
Rnd 28 – 35: SC around Motif. This time do not 3 SC in the corners, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1, turn, (Rnd 35 tie off and hide string).
You have now made the basket Slip the plastic canvas inside. With your darning needle and Lt Green yarn sew around the top of the basket sewing the crochet basket and Canvas basket together. This should be a snug fit.
Handle: Lt Green
Base: Ch 43
Row 1-5: 42 Sc, Ch 1, turn.
Row 6: SC around Entire Motif.
Place the handle on top of the Plastic hand and with darning needle and Lt. Green yarn sew in place. Both the ends should overlap onto the basket.
Optional: Place a flower on the base of one handle.
Flower: Pink
Base: Ch 7, Sl to 1st CH made, Ch1, turn.
Rnd 1: In CH 7 sp: *1 SC, 2 DC, 1 SC, Rep 4 more times from *, Turn.
Rnd 2: *CH 3, SC in between peddles, Rep from * 4 more times, SL to 1st CH made, CH 1 turn.
Rnd 3: In Each Ch 3 sp( 1 SC, 3 DC, 1 SC), SL to 1st SC made, CH 1 turn.
Rnd 4: * CH 4, SC between the peddles, Rep from * 4 more times, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1 turn.
Rnd 5: In each CH 4 sp (1 SC, 4 DC, 1 SC), SL to 1st Sc made, Ch 1 turn.
Rnd 6: * CH 5, SC between the peddles, Rep from * 4 more times, SL to 1st SC made, CH 1, turn.
Rnd 7: In each CH 5 SP (1 SC, 3 DC, 2 TR, 3 DC, 1 SC) SL to 1st SC made, Tie off.
Sew Flower to base of one side of basket!
